Codes & Standards Compliance
Most comments from the authorities do not come from an engineering error. They come from an unclear code basis: which edition governs the project, which international standards were adopted, and where is the evidence that a given requirement is met. This service settles those points before submission instead of letting them surface during review.
What the service covers:
- Fixing the code basis for each design package in writing: the Saudi Building Code edition and the standards adopted, such as NFPA.
- Checking the gaps when a project moves between code editions, and the effect of each gap on design and cost.
- Reviewing drawings and specifications against the requirements item by item: occupant load, exits, compartmentation, systems and external access.
- Preparing an organised compliance statement that links each requirement to the design feature meeting it.
- Identifying items that cannot be applied literally and routing them to performance-based design.
When you need it: before any formal submission, when a project straddles two code editions, when you inherit a design from another team, and when an existing building changes use or is extended.
Once compliance is settled we handle coordination and submission to the authorities. Read about the 2024 Saudi Building Code and what it means for design.
